Robert Bentley Publications has the official VW repair manuals in print. Many years' models come in either or both paperback and CD/DVD versions. The electronic ones have a rather user-unfriendly copy protection scheme (and as far as I know, will not at this time work with Windows 7 and/or 64 bit operating systems. They have extra features, a not-very-useful search capability, and can be updated (for better or for worse.), but many people prefer the paperback.Updates: sometimes things will change from one update to the next, only to be changed back in a subsequent update. I believe updates are 'free' for a year after registration.

The Haynes have been found with too many errors and many missed or incomplete procedures. That said, the most cost effective 'repair manual' is an internet connection to this website, the tdi-club, and to vwvortex. Cheers, Yuri PS: the best price for the Bentley appears to be from Amazon, unless you can find a used copy that covers your model year. Again, transferring registration for the electronic versions can be difficult.

SO we bought a 2013 Jetta TDI Premium, NAV. Checked several sites and was preparing to by the Ross-Tech VCDS Pro KIT and Bentley Manual, when I was told that the manuals are NO LONGER AVAILABLE for 'newer' VW's. Tried to get a manual from 2 different VW dealers and was told that it was virtually impossible. They now use manuals from erWIN, and they are not available to the general public. BENTLEY PUBLICATIONS had a 'falling out' with Volkswagen several years ago, so they're now out of the picture for anything later than '09.

I have never owned a car that I didn't work on myself (with guidance from a factory or equivalant service manual). Even have a factory manual for our 2012 ZR-1 Vette and my new 2013 Peterbuilt 389.

Now 'Volkswagen' tells me they don't want owners to do maintenance on their cars??? I imagine that we will keep the car for the 3 year warranty period (Dealer Service is covered).then it's outa' here. NO MORE NEW VW's FOR ME!!! Thanks Keith, It's very frustrating. I'm certain that the lil TDI is not half as complicated as my new Peterbuilt, but I'd still like to have a service manual for the little bugger. Maybe during the next few years (while the warranty is in force) somebody'll make something available.

I haul stage equip. For the music industry (ROCK & COUNTRY) and meet alot of TDI guys on the road and quite a few of the stage hands own 'em. I'll try and find something or hook up with a VW tech that can help me get one of the new erWIN factory manuals that the dealers use.If it happens, I'll post on here.
