Just wandering what people use? The smoke pro cylinder machine from what i have been told by the selling agent (big name, spoke with at a tool seminar), yes, you can use baby oil as the fluid to be heated, watched the various utube footages of this machine, looks great, good bit of kit.
Downside for me is the airline power source as i was looking at using away from my works premisses etc, so would have to rig up some form of electric pump to supply air or even a portable aircomp unit, so thats the smoke pro. Now i discover SO make 2 different units, the EELD100 would be more than adequate for me i would have thought, as the useage it will get is very minimal, but it will get used, the advantage of this from what i can see in the catalogue, its electric no aircomp required. So fellow techy's. What do you all use, dare i say what pitfalls you have come across?? And what fluid are you using??
Ok so I have just invested in a blue point smoke machine.got sick of spending too many hours tracing air leaks etc.already had great success with it and can see it becoming a very useful tool.My question is can I use it to detect a fuel filler neck leak or tank leak? Not sure really what the process is.can I use it direct through the filler neck.is it safe to use regular compressed air or do I need to use nitrogen? The car I have in mind is an old vauxhall corsa.no evap system.strong smell of fuel inside the vehicle and i suspect maybe a corroded tank but nothing visible. Any help appreciated. Hi i have the same machine and have used it on all sorts i have had 100% success rate on oil leaks on engine & gearbox's have also found water leaks & leaks on diesels that were poor starters & were not enough to leak diesel but enough to suck in air i have not used on petrol yet but can not see a problem just a bit of trail and error i have always used compressed air.found a leak on a reno megane cam box, it was running rough when cold it was sucking excess air through breather pipe then sealed when engine warmed up and sealed cam box leak. Vectra, scanner said lambda, it had already had one else where, smoked exhaust and found small crack in manifold next to upper sensor. Its one of the tools you wonder how you ever managed without, every one should have one, smoke it & scope it and you won't go far wrong. Best kit I've bought in along time and the best bit it doesn't need updating ps check your fuel pipes the older vauxhall pipes with the cloth covering were prone to leaking but hard to tell so smoke your lines as well look for uv dye.
Just remembered checked a mk 1 escort fuel tank before fitting did it trough breather pipe. Pontiac aztek for sale. You take the gas cap off and put it on. This is the best way to find filler neck leaks.
