CECs: 4.0 ACE. This class prepares you to teach a broad range of exercises, variations and modifications performed on the Reformer the key piece of resistance equipment used in pilates exercise. This course teaches you how to combine Mat- and Reformer-based workouts for increased variety and intensity. Upon completion of this course you are able to further motivate group classes and customize personal training sessions for a range of clients. In addition to the general course objectives you learn: -Effective use of resistance to enhance torso stability and peripheral extremity conditioning -How to develop effective Reformer and combined Mat-and-Reformer programs for personal and group classes -Essential, intermediate and power workouts -Effective communication, visual skills verbal cuing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation Prerequisites: A working knowledge of functional anatomy, prior pilates experience and three-plus years teaching movement or fitness. ICCB prepares you to teach essential and intermediate stretching and strengthening exercises on equipment designed to complete STOTT PILATES® training: Cadillac Trapeze Table; Stability Chair™; Ladder Barrel; Spine Corrector; and Arc Barrel. At the end of the course you will be able to fine-tune both personal and circuit training programs to meet post-rehabilitation needs, general fitness, and athletic conditioning goals. Beyond the general course objectives you will learn: -How to apply STOTT PILATES® biomechanical principles for precision training -Use of resistance to enhance torso stability and peripheral extremity training -How to develop dynamic programs for one-on-one and circuit training Prerequisites: STOTT PILATES® Mat Plus OR Reformer Courses Course Duration: Course is conducted over 4 weekends.

The Cadillac, Chair, & Barrels course has been structured into three separate modules; ICAD, ICHR and IBRL, to give you maximum flexibility. Completion of all three modules is required to be eligible for certification.

CECs: 5.0 ACE. ICAD prepares you to teach Essential and Intermediate exercises on the Cadillac. By the end of this course you will be able to fine-tune personal and circuit training programs to meet a variety clients’ conditioning goals with 125 exercises on the Cadillac Trapeze Table. ICHR prepares you to teach Essential and Intermediate exercises on the Stability Chair. By the end of this course you will be able to fine-tune personal and circuit training programs to meet a variety of clients’ conditioning goals with 63 exercises on the Stability Chair. IBRL prepares you to teach Essential and Intermediate exercises on the Barrels.

By the end of this course you will be able to fine-tune personal and circuit training programs to meet a variety of clients’ conditioning goals with 98 exercises on the Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector and Arc Barrel. This course is intended for those already working in the fields of fitness or movement. Building on your STOTT PILATES® knowledge it teaches you to customize workouts to address weaknesses, health conditions, postural problems or injuries (but not to diagnose specific injuries).

STOTT PILATES certification is awarded upon the successful completion of required coursework and submission of a written and and/or practical exam. Students will receive a letter of completion and verification of continuing education credits. Students are not considered certified STOTT PILATES instructors (in any course) until after they have successfully passed the related examination(s). Exam material is cumulative so aspiring instructors can become certified in stages by taking an exam after each course or after a series of courses. The following exams are available in a Level 1 (Essential and Intermediate), Level 2 (Advanced), or Combined Levels 1 and 2 format:.

Matwork, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrels You can qualify to take and receive a Full Certification exam if you successfully complete an examination (or series of examinations) in Level 1 and Level 2 Matwork, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrels AND have also taken the Injuries & Special Populations course. If you take IMP, IR or ICCB courses, you are eligible to take a Level 1 exam. If you take AM, AR or ACCB courses you are eligible for a combined Level 1 and 2 exam. If you choose to examine at Level 1 (written and practical components) and wish to upgrade to Level 2 certification at a later date (practical component only), you will be charged a separate fee.

See the exam prices for more details.If you hold a Matwork certification and want to certify in Reformer or vice versa, you must take a combined Matwork and Reformer exam so that we can test your ability to program various equipment repertoires together. You do not have to take (and pay for) two or more exams if you are planning to take more than one course. You may wait until completion of the second or final course to take a combined repertoire exam. However, if you are planning to take multiple courses and then take a combined exam, please remember that you must take either an exam or a subsequent course within six months. For example, if you take IMP and the course ends on March 1st, you must either take the exam for IMP or take a subsequent course on or before September 1st of the same year.

If you choose to take another course, you will need to make the same choice within six months of that course date: take another course or take the exam for the previous course(s). If you prefer to take a longer pause between courses, you may take an exam to become certified in one course only and then take other combined exams (after completing the second or subsequent courses) to become certified in all the work. In this case, separate exam fees would apply. See the exams prices for more details. The written component must be conducted at a location where you can be monitored. This can be at a Merrithew Licensed Training Center, such as Victory Pilates, or at a library (public, college or university). The practical component must be conducted in the presence of an Instructor Trainer at a Merrithew Licensed Training Center, such as Victory Pilates.

Alternatively, the exam can be submitted by videotape. Contact the STOTT PILATES Education Department at 800-910-0001 ext. 261 or send an email to education@merrithew.com for more information about this procedure, as all videotaped exams as evaluated at STOTT PILATES headquarters in Toronto. If you did not complete your examination within six months of taking the related course, you must complete private review hours with an Instructor Trainer to reinstate your eligibility to take the exam. Material covered will be specific to your needs to help prepare you for the exam. The number of private review hours required is based upon the course material that must be covered and the demands of the course repertoire. The MINIMUM private session requirements are:.

Matwork – 1 hour. Reformer – 1 hour. Matwork and Reformer – 1 to 2 hours. Matwork, Reformer and CCB – 2 to 3 hours The Instructor Trainer you work with may recommend further private sessions or study as preparation.

If you have to take some or all of the exam again, this must take place within six months of the original exam date. This will help to ensure that the information is still relatively fresh, yet allows you time to study and improve in the necessary areas. If this time limit has passed, it is highly recommended that you book private sessions with an Instructor Trainer to review the material before taking the exam again. If you take your exam for the first time and fail both portions, you may take the exam once again within six months.
